With six locations and hundreds of units throughout West Campus, the Block (owned and operated by CWS Apartments) is difficult to miss.  Before the UNO act of 2004 apartment buildings like the Block would never have been possible, but the easing of restrictions on height, setbacks, and unit mix in the West Campus area allowed SIX new Block complexes to be constructed between 2006 and 2008.  All six buildings serve the UT student community and are less than 5 blocks from campus, but this post concerns one of the Phase I properties: The Block on 28th.

Located at 701 W. 28th Street at the corner of Rio Grande, the Block on 28th is a 75+ unit apartment community offering garage parking on-site, on-site maintenance and management office, and 5 floors of apartments ranging in size from efficiencies tolarge four bedroom units.  The location puts you about 3-4 blocks from campus and just a block from the West Campus bus stop, so it’s an easy trip to morning classes.  Like all of the Block locations, 28th offers 12 month leases, garage parking at a separate contract rate (usually about $99 bucks per person), and leasing by the bedroom for peace of mind for students and parents.  Amenities includes stainless steel appliances in all units, full size washers and dryers in all units, large walk-in closets, stained concrete floors, granite kitchen islands in some units, and units available with balconies and patios.  Further, the building offers a workout facility, rooftop hangout, and more.
